چکیده

This study was conducted during the period from 2015 to 2017 resistance of powdery mildew in eight melon inbred lines and their hybrids order reduce losses quality yield.  Eight different genetically were selfed for six generations ensure homozygosity. They have been self-pollinated intercrossed a half diallel mating design obtain 28 2015. Thirty genotypes (8 Lines produced hybrids) evaluated reaction 2016. The results showed that P5, P6, P7 P8  lines, all contain P6 [(P1) X(P6), (P2) (P3) (P4) (P5) (P6) X(P7) X(P8)]  beside P5X P7, P8 P7X low infection (between 1-12.5%) is meaning they are resistant. genetic most appeared significant negative heterosis over its mid parent. On contrary, studied positive better potence ratio estimates indicated dominance towards resistance. In at WADY El-Natroon, 36 along with parents determine heterosis  economic traits, viz., days picking, early yield/plant, total average fruit weight, shape index, netting, soluble solids flesh thickness. highly mean squares traits. Some crosses revealed mid-parent better-parent many resistant had good horticultural characteristics. best promising lines.

The genome of melon (Cucumis melo L.).

We report the genome sequence of melon, an important horticultural crop worldwide. We assembled 375 Mb of the double-haploid line DHL92, representing 83.3% of the estimated melon genome. We predicted 27,427 protein-coding genes, which we analyzed by reconstructing 22,218 phylogenetic trees, allowing mapping of the orthology and paralogy relationships of sequenced plant genomes. We observed the ...

Transcriptome analysis of the oriental melon (Cucumis melo L. var. makuwa) during fruit development

BACKGROUND The oriental melon (Cucumis melo L. var. makuwa) is one of the most important cultivated cucurbits grown widely in Korea, Japan, and northern China. It is cultivated because its fruit has a sweet aromatic flavor and is rich in soluble sugars, organic acids, minerals, and vitamins. In order to elucidate the genetic and molecular basis of the developmental changes that determine size, ...

Loss-of-Function Mutations in CsMLO1 Confer Durable Powdery Mildew Resistance in Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.)

Powdery mildew (PM) is a serious fungal disease of cucumber worldwide. The identification of resistance genes is very important for resistance breeding to ensure cucumber production. Here, natural loss-of-function mutations at an MLO homologous locus, CsMLO1, were found to confer durable PM resistance in cucumber. CsMLO1 encoded a cell membrane protein, was mainly expressed in leaves and cotyle...

Powdery mildew (Sphaerotheca fuliginea) resistance in melon is selectable at the haploid level.

The major cause of powdery mildew in melons (Cucumis melo L.) is the fungus Sphaerotheca fuliginea. There are several cultivar- and season-specific races of this fungus. In order to control powdery mildew, it is important to introduce resistance to fungal infection into new cultivars during melon breeding. Haploid breeding is a powerful tool for the production of pure lines. In this study, it w...

Association mapping for resistance to powdery mildew in oriental tobacco (Nicotiana tabaccum L.) germplasm

Powdery mildew caused by Erysiphe cichoracearum is an important fungal disease which threatens tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) production. The objective of this study was to determine DNA markers linked to genomic regions associated with resistance to powdery mildew in tobacco through the association mapping approach. Seventy tobacco geno-types were fingerprinted using 26 simple se-quence repeat...
